The book is published on the occasion of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, by the Ramakrishna Institute of Culture, Kolkata with financial assistance from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.

The book reveals an open-mined and an objective approach to forward the various unexplored dimensions of the life and wanderings of Swami Vivekananda, whose ideas, the book establishes, will transform the present world into a better one. In this book there is a glimpse of how the present day scholars from around the world view Swamiji’s message and what they think about his significance today.

The book presents a re-visit in four phases, namely a) Invocation; b) The Formative Years; c) On the World Stage and d) ‘This Time the Center is India’ and collates the culmination of great personalities from Swamiji’s life and message – they are namely great national figureheads like Sri Aurobindo, Subhas Chandra Bose, Gandhiji, Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, Jamshedji Tata, Jagadish Chandra Bose and many others in the country, on the one hand and Scientists Nikola Tesla, Lord Kelvin, Hermann Helmholtz and Philosopher and Psychologist William James of Harvard University, Environmentalist and Planner Patrick Geddes of Edinburgh University and many others in the western galaxy, on the other hand.
