Hydroxyapatite (HAp) / poly (vinyl alcohol phosphate) (PVAP) nanocomposite has been prepared using a solution based method varying Hap from 10 to 60% (w/w)
  • The composite has been characterized through XRD, FTIR, SEM, TG-DTA, hemocompatibility and tensile testing. The composite has shown excellent mechanical and chemical properties with uniform microstructure as well as high hemocompatibility, which is expected to be used a potential biomaterials.
  • The composite materials have shown homogeneous microstructure with improved mechanical properties.
  • The prepared composite will be more benefited and biocompatible than other conventional HAp/PVA composites regarding mechanical and chemical properties, which are very much resemble to that of bone tissue.
  • The prepared composite shows improved interfacial bonding and mechanical properties with homogeneous microstructure as well as high hemocompatibility.
  • The novelty of the process is the ability to incorporate up to 60 wt% HAp within the polymer matrix, thereby maximizing the material’s osteoconductivity.
