| A set plasma sprayed ceramic coatings have been developed for a few commercially available and inexpensive ceramic powders (indigenous), namely alumina (commercial grade), plasma dissociated zircon, zircon sand, and Zircon sand-CaO, which do not belong to the so called "plasma sprayable" grade, expensive powders (imported).
With an appropriate choice of processing conditions, a sound and adherent ceramic costing is achievable using such powders which do not belong to the so called "plasma sprayable" category. The capability of these coatings to withstand cyclic thermal loading has been evaluated and all coatings offer attractive thermal fatigue resistance. |
