According to this invention is provided a process for obtaining an anti-polyhedrin monoclonal antibody comprising the steps of isolating the 10th RNA segment form polyhedra of infected larvae converting the 10th RNA segment to cDNA followed by cloning and sequencing the same, selecting the protein coding region of segment 10 and obtaining the His-tagged recombinant polyhedrin protein immunizing a subject with said protein, obtaining hybrid cells from spleen cells and myeloma cells of the immunized subject, isolating single antibody secreting cells and purifying the secreted antibody to obtain anti-polyhedrin monoclonal antibody. According to this invention is further provided an anti-polyhedrin monoclonal antibody and the use thereof for the detecting of cytoplasmic polyhedrosis virus.
