An improved voltage and current measurement system for sparks
Inventors  Dr. S. Roy, Prof. P. K. Mishra, Mr. A. Guha
Patent  199186

  • In any spark-erosion machine (Die-sinking, EDM, Wire-EDM), this circuitry can be used to acquire the real time voltage and current signature, which can be used as feedback signal for adaptive control of the process. Pulse counting can also be done much more accurately from the current signal. This is worth mentioning here that till now the standard practice for pulse counting is from the voltage signal, which can never be accurate because discharge takes place at different voltage levels.
  • This can be used to capture voltage and current history during spark plug testing in any automobile industry.
  • This circuitry can also be useful to low-frequency applications as well. Different non-conventional manufacturing processes e.g. Electrochemical Discharge Grinding, Electrojet Drilling, etc. can use this circuitry for process monitoring.
