| This is a portable device, which is capable of injection a drug or any chemical over an extended period of time. It can be carried in the pocket of a patient. It is popularly used for slow injection of an iron-chelating agent in case of a genetic disorder called Thalassaemia.
The development device consists of a rectangular box with a motor driven mechanism, which slowly pushes a piston. This piston in its turn pushes a hypodermic syringe. The speed of the piston and hence the injection rate is controlled by an electronic circuit. |
