 A ultrasound frequency is transmitted to the blood vessel. Due to the velocity of the blood itself; there is a frequency shift proportional to the velocity of the blood through the artery that is probed. This shifted frequency is detected and plotted against time. Some of the anomalies of the physical conditions of various organs, such as, any abnormality in the blood vessel directly affect the blood velocity itself. Thus deviation of the velocity from the normal ones can be attributed to the blood vessel or cardiac or blood velocity problem accordingly. The signal of the Doppler shifted frequency converted in digital domain and FFT is done over it to get the periodogram using a CORDIC based VLSI chip to provide real time analysis of the signal.

A knowledge base is designed to help in the diagnosis of the blood-related diseases. With all this the integrated system is supposed to provide a very efficient means of analysis of the blood velocity wave form and the inferencing engine will help a lot in the field of medical diagnosis. It in its freezed form stands to take up the challenge in the aforesaid field.
