A Stabilized t-ZrO2 and a Process for its Manufacture

 A stabilized t-ZrO2 nano-ceramics with doping of rare-earth metal, which retain in this structure when exposed to elevated temperatures and its process of manufacture. The stabilized t-ZrO2 comprises of R3+ stabilized t-ZrO2 as nano-powder in which R comprise rare earth metals. The process for the manufacture of stable t-ZrO2 comprises reaction a solution of ZrOCl2.8H2O and RCl3 with oxalic acid to obtain a transparent gel of precursors and heating the precursor to a temperature of 400 to 6000C preferably 5000C to obtain the stabilized R3+:t-ZrO2. The process and the product are useful for manufacturing stabilized t-ZrO2 ceramics and components for structures, biomaterials, thermal barrier coating, catalytic supports, MHD applications, hard ceramic tools, and ceramic toughening processes.
