A process sensing apparatus for transmitting optical signals corresponding to pressure and differential pressure

 The pressure-transmitting device consists of deformer, pressure sensing diaphragm, optical fibre, optical source and detector. The deformer consists of two parts movable and fixed. The movable part is attached to the diaphragm, which moves with the pressure change. The other part is attached to the device enclosure and is stationary. Optical fibre is placed in between the two parts of the deformer. The deformer is made up of metal or Perspex.

The differential pressure transmitter consists of two identical units with two optical fibres experiencing micro bending due to variation of the two pressures. The difference in pressure is obtained by optoelectronic processing of the two light signals in the two fibres.
