| Aluminium and its alloys are usually treated by grain refiners before casting, in order to produce fine equiaxed grain structure, which leads to improved mechanical properties. The most common grain refiners are Al-5Ti-1B master alloys, which are imported by most of the Al industries in India. The present technology deals with the development of these grain refiners by the indigenously available cheap raw materials such as commercial purity Al and fluoride salts. The grain refiners thus developed have been found to be comparable to the imported grain refiners in their grain refining efficiency. | |
