| A soil moisture recorder has been designed and developed to record soil moisture content with time. The developed instrument consists of a tensiometer and a modified manometer and clock driven data logger. The output in the form of change in voltage is obtained as the resistance of the wire placed in side manometer changes when the level of mercury in manometer changes. This out put in the form of voltage is recorded on clock driven data-logger with the help of a suitable circuit that has been designed to interface the modified manometer with the data logger. The circuit provides flexibility of choosing the initial and final voltage corresponding to any two value of mercury column.
The calibration curves between the height of mercury column and the recorded reading on the chart of data logger were found to be linear. |
